There's nothing like the state fair to remind you that you live in the south. Rebel flag scrunchy, anyone?

More cut off jorts with boots than I've seen since a country music video. Quite a show.

We rode the rides and ate the questionable food. And we paid $2 to see a huge swamp rat in a cage. He looked suspiciously like a beaver.

One time, we took a vacation.  It was fun. 

 

All Aboard

We spent yesterday hanging with Santa on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.  The only thing I would change is, maybe, they could wait until the end of the ride to hand out the jingle bells to the children.

Calm Before The Storm

Nearly every time we go down to visit my parents in Florida, we end up in the middle of a thunderstorm or hurricane.  This afternoon, we sort of went chasing it on the golf cart.  About three minutes after we took these, the sky let loose and we hurried home with the kids screeching and giggling the whole way.  

I love the live oak trees that surround my parents' home.  They remind me so much of my childhood, of climbing up in them in my swimsuit and watching sunsets. 

Rain Delay

Braves vs. Phillies last Sunday.  It had already been raining non-stop for days so we were pretty sure that the game was not going to happen, but decided to drive to Turner Field anyway with an alternate plan to drag my family through Ikea if there was no game.

We made it to the middle of the 5th inning before they pulled out the tarp and we got drenched getting back to the car.  Of course the kids loved it.

BoyChild and Drew had been a few weeks before and so this time, my son kept singing the Real Men of Genius 'Mr. Cotton Candy Vendor Guy' ad he heard last time and cracking himself up.  He's days away from quoting Caddyshack. 

Wild West

Yee Haw.  Girls night at the local watering hole.  I should mention, there was tequila involved which might explain some of these shots.
